Lithuania adopts Euro

 ~November 2014~

Source: 1 January 2015 Lithuania will become the 19th full-fledged member of the Eurozone, which uses euro as a single currency within the European Union. With this move Lithuania is joining the strongest economies that play a key role in shaping the financial and monetary policies of the European Union.

Joining the Eurozone is an important financial, economical and geopolitical project, bringing a number of benefits for both Lithuania and the Eurozone - it provides better economic stability; eliminates exchange rate fluctuations and therefore uncertainties, risks and exchange costs; and helps to facilitate business within Eurozone as well as with non-EU markets.

Having successfully dealt with the economic crisis, Lithuania can significantly contribute to the top three tasks for the euro area today - reviving growth, boosting competitiveness, safeguarding financial stability. This mutual benefit of European integration is inscribed on the edge of the Lithuanian two euro coins - Freedom, Unity, and Well-Being.
